In operations phase, the system needs constant monitoring as a number of factors can undermine full functioning.

Those factors can be external such as occasional abnormalities in the grid or extreme weather conditions. There could be internal factors as well such as faulty electronics at inverter level.

While most issues are relatively easy to troubleshoot, they require intimate knowledge of the way the system was designed and operates. IPPsolar has a team dedicated to all O&M tasks.

Cost of energy storage is rapidly decreasing and that opens the way for more and more demand shaving projects.

On the East coast, in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut utilities charge high demand rates that can go up to $25 per kW per month. In the high demand rate utility territories, battery storage makes economic sense. Combined with a solar system, the utility customer may reduce his electricity cost by close to 100% in some cases.

All major car manufacturers have engaged in an effort to launch electric cars as demand for EVs is growing rapidly.

Charging EVs will become a challenge particularly for EV owners in urban areas. As a result, DC Fast Charge stations in large number need to be built in order to meet the demand.

There are a number of challenges slowing this effort:

High demand charge in congested areas
Grid infrastructure unable to absorb demand
Complex permitting process

IPPsolar has a lot of experience with DC Fast Charge stations. We developed and installed 15 DC Fast Charge stations in the New York metropolitan area in 2014-2015. We later sold those stations to EV Go, then a subsidiary of NRG, the large power generation company.
